How can we help you now: Fix Homeworld atmosphere height - planet radius - ore deposits

Entering Homeworld from space results in constantly having to fly through the crust of the planet. Almost like the planet is shown bigger, but it’s the older, smaller radius of planet that is in effect.

Also, I know it’s been stated already, but when do we get a fix on the ore deposits on 2 fronts:

  1. resetting
  2. showing correct ore amounts

Any news would be gratefully received, because in it’s current form, Homeworld is next to useless.

Hello @Juggoire

regarding deposit amounts see this reference here please:

New planets, new deposit type (voxel) and new way of wiping them through API. Too many possibilities where new bugs could shine… I don’t know where and how yet.

Same goes for resetting them. It is marked for a daily reset, so I must search the bug in it there then.

Is this only on Homeworld the case?
Thus can you say only that Class 5 planet has this problem?
Can you please test Ori, Zion and Paragon regarding that?
The height is something I can’t influence.
The only logical explanation could be that there are tons of Deposits available in comparison to Paragon for example…

I haven’t tested, but I’ve a feeling it’s due to the center of the planet being further away from you than the surrounding planets - maybe pushing Iceworld, Desertworld, Waterworld another 5-10 km out? When I’m running around the atmosphere of Homeworld, it will often show distance to Iceworld - which is a little weird.

To highlight the issue, watch this:

Take note of the distances, bottom right.

The moment it shows Homeworld, the entry to atmosphere begins - so I think this backs up my thoughts on the planet positions being too close to Homeworld and confusing the server as to when atmosphere entry should begin. Hope that helps!

It happens on jupidor too

Thank you! Yes, this helps a lot and looks clearly like a bug.
I try to reproduce it locally and come up with a fix. Worst case is no Class 5 planets in the next season anymore…

Easier fix now would be to edit the sectors.yaml file and move the positions of the other planets away from each other and Homeworld (They need to be approx 20km or so apart)

This is what I can and will do for sure.
But I smell some bigger issues behind it.

@Juggoire I tried to fly with my CV into Homeworld after the restart.
I don’t know if moving the Moons really fixed it but I couldn’t reproduce what you showed in your video.

Maybe you can verify?

I’ll get on it now

Thanks for quick response!

Haven’t checked it from all planets, but did a quick ‘skirt’ around Homeworld atmosphere and it seems to be all good - I’ll post shortly if it turns out to be any different - but looks fine at the moment

Thanks for testing! Glad to hear!

There are no Moons for Jupidor so I fear it has something to do with Class 5 nevertheless… hm

I’ve checked from each planet, and they all work fine - although I’d suggest maybe moving them another 1000m away from Homeworld to allow for some lag when people are travelling - presently they are very close when the distances ‘flip’ and allow you to enter atmosphere.

A sidenote, the Abandoned Drone Base on HW appears to be buried under terrain and the crashed titans are in anti-grief and cannot be ‘dug up’.
