A long time ago, on a server not so far away, before RE, before we had a Galaxy, before shields was the original HWS EU server.
Not to put too fine a point on it, to get any rares mats,ie Gold, Eres, & Zas you had to PvP. The asteroids around golden globe for example - the most you ever got was 10 mintues mining and you would get jumped by someone, it was constanly patrolled. You designed mining CVs with the sole intention of being able to warp out whilst under attack( i still have said CVs on the workshop_).
As for golden globe itself, unless you were the controlling faction you would have multiple players attacking you… instantly. For example with a mate we dropped 2 x fully equipped bases back to back, each with 4 HVs on the top - a lorra guns And with us both in 2 battle HVs of course. In 5 minutes you’d have 6 enemy SVs raining down fire from above…a truly hectic wonderful experience ! We get away with ONE hours worth of ore before enough of our turrets were destroyed we had to get out of Dodge. 6 SVs chasing us fleeing the system. Activate our stealthed 2 fully arrmed CVs and 2 fully armed turret platforms, dock in the back and get away clean !
Getting stuff was hard, but fun.
Over 3 years and a few thousand hours of play on HWS EU, quite abruptly RE and HWS+ happened and killed off the original game i’d loved so much. When you started playing back then, HWs had just loads of the most fantastic Garage ships that you really wanted…but so very very expensive. At the very point i was finally able to affored one each season, the server died
The characters i made in Ultima Online in 1998 can still be played on the same server, never was an ultima online 2. All the money, items i made back then is still there and could play again on a busy server. This is true of a lot of older games i’ve played - all still viable on populated servers.
For reasons out of my control - the 1000s of hours i put into HWS EU are defunct, worthless relics on dead server, HWS EU RE however is always busy. Please let me and other Legacy players transfer over our items./funds to RE.Text
