Here is an idea; instead of all the turrets being active when OLP is on, what if we can limit the turrets to just minigun / cannon turrets active when OLP is active? Lower the damage of said turrets and increase the range? That would allow players to approach an OLP base, but they would not be encouraged to stick around there either. Probably not possible at the moment but perhaps something the devs can look into?

If Eleon could make more options and information available to the server it would be cool.
I would suggest a combination of what @RexXxuS and @TacoIsland suggested: a struct with OLP can only fire if all allied factions are offline, too. That would make them useless as inpenetrable damage pumps and would also allow smaller factions to be allied with larger factions without completely breaking each others defenses by deactivating OLP.

The OGR faction was a legitimate faction until the rules changed and the main players became sporadically inactive. Once that was the case, they were removed.
The only hypocrisy here is that you are okay with abusing OLP and using this to justify it.
Don’t bring Loki and I into it. We are a real faction with real members with accounts. I’ve been actively participating on the forums and Discord so YOU and the admins know I am a main. This server has rules in place that hurt large factions. I was with TAW but didn’t like their recruitment policies and moved into my own faction with Loki.
She likes the building more than the PvP and only plays in PvP with me once in awhile when she does play.
We only added Enforcer when we were forced to by this 3 man rule and to shepard our stuff as I knew we would both be gone for about a month with real life things (moving house, PAX, ect.)
As it stands I know must join some faction with over 3 members if I’d like to participate because OGR won’t be having more players who Loki and I don’t know and don’t trust.
It’s almost to the point I am considering not coming back to this server because of this bs.
So you are complaining about me getting killed, then running on foot toward an OP tower to escape repeated deaths? You just admitted that you killed me in my unarmed miner, not hiding under the towers as you are falsely accusing me of, but out in the open. Then I am on foot with no backpack or loot and you want me to do what exactly? Stand there and let you farm RP?

Is it possible to have a piece of code that runs in the background that can delay the activation of Offline Protection for it’s first activation?
Like, new base goes down - check, players go offline - check, offline is delayed by 24 hours.

Thanks @TheState for the original post and its open constructive content. I suspect it would be hard to find a PvP player on ether EU or NA server who would not agree that OLP needs to be improved/refined.
Unfortunately a lot of this require Eleon, so we are limited to discussion ideas that could feed into the devs (Via RexXxus) as new improvements to the game mechanics/code.
My latest contribution to this debate is: perhaps if OLP required a certain amount of active in game playing hours to allow its capacitors to recharge before it could be activated again. This could be a config file variable. For example a player might have to be online for at least 1 concurrent hour before the OLP would function on log off. (The P menu of the base would need to show the OLP device, with a charged Y/N state flag).
On its own this would be not too punative, but in combination with some of the other changes RexXxus has indicated in this thread, it would add a little bit more difficulty to the abuse of OLP. I also think it is a “realistic” requirement that the OLP force field requires some down time for charging.
Les’t keep it simple… Some are abusing multiple account and family share to create bases on pvp planets so they have a fallback position. Currently the rule does nothing to prevent this. Simple solution it needs to be policed with a few criteria one of them can be activity, combined with a penalty the problem will stop.

Did you not like how ACPs OP turned off on Saturday morning? Didn’t you log off to hide behind it before we chopped it down?
I myself have 3 faction members, two inactive and I believe none of our structures were outside the rules.
And common sense, if I come to GG put down a base and fight or mine, I am ENTITLED to my OP to use it when I can’t play.
Why does ACP and TAW get all the attention?
Look at my video that shows an ACP tower placed in the red wall, and how the physics don’t allow it to fall, and the guns keep shooting.

Let’s talk about what really is going on. Massive battles, lots of faction spawning things down there. Not for one secont think that everything is strategized and organized. People crash or log off amongst the MASSIVE LAG that is usual for any machine that is not a monster performance pc and if towers are left behing than this is an issue somehow that will have to totally take off the off-line protection from the game (hurting all small factions but some half-dozen ones on both servers)… So this seems wise, hun? Not critcizing rex, at all. I know the kind of dilema he is being putted at, but the pvp on empyrion is far from perfect and still developing. The alliance and workarounds of some factions (not saying alt accounts, I really think this is more like an urban myth for both sides on my opinion) and the way factions of 2, 3 active members find to get some resources shouldn’t be a relevant topic for a full post like this and a complete coding workaround. Maybe a more equal distribuition of resources and more spread way of mining than cranking up a lot in one place would be a much better way to put at use rex and jascha time than thinking ways of taking down small factions towers because it ruins someones specific agenda of clean landscape. Let’s face it, this is not about “broken mechanics”, but alterations to the game’s interactions that needs to be adjusted. Onde good thing that came from this season big war was tha fact that I had the chance (as a newcomer) to meet a lot of people and learn about the battle mechanics. Just wish that this was done ocasionally than as a permanent part of the server ways. The end of golden globe would solve that, basically.

Why not just make it so offline protected bases will fire at allies, but at a reduced rate or something (or the normal amount)?
Should still preserve olp benefits for the faction using it, but force people to think twice about using allies OLP as a shield/buffer zone.
That would be funny, though it still has room for abuse it would solve some of the abuse.
Ease off the whiskey. No one is accusing you of anything, but there are these mysterious factions like SNA/TSS (TST or whatever) that popped overnight and never login and fight - but they do put down bases on GG and they are also allied with all of you guys.
No one would have an issue if ‘whoever’ started using those OLP towers stopped using them. I mean, you guys moved Magnificon a PKA member from PKA to SNA .
I have one solution which is probably among many - OLP if it’s a problem for being used as free vertical cover, is to have it where the server admin should have a way to shrink or expand OLP to certain sizes. something like 10 x 10 x 10 size so OLP covers that section area but doesn’t cover the rest.
Another solution is to have the OLP do what it does not, have it shut off turrets but act in a way like stealth is so you can shoot through the OLP barrier and even past the blocks.
Sorry but I don’t get what you are suggesting with this concept. Perhaps you could expand on this thought?
