Solar panels limit

Hey guys! Any specific reason to lower the solar panel limits to 15? How about go back to 20 from 7.0?

It was lowered in the vanilla game to 15. This is probably why ours was lowered as well since Rex had to start with a new config for 8.0.

Thanks TwitchyJ I thought it was HWS choice because one of my space station is white at vanila creative game and orange when trying to spawn at HWS.

If the community wish 20 or 30 Solar Panels we can do it.

As long as the immersion is not ruined I’m fine with it.
Maybe some smart guy can do some calculations when the Solar Panels are generating “too much” power and making fuel cells etc. obsolete > ruining the market / immersion.

No large amount of solar panels can sustain your base indefinitely, especially if you are running multiple constructors/furnaces. But for those that want unlimited energy, endgame is an “Alien Core” which can cost you 4mil min.

But over all 20-30 panels would do just fine until players can build up funds for shiny stuff.

Just spawned a Space Station with 15 panels at Peacekeeper West (as close to the sun as we can be without taxes). Output is 908 kW (best angle to the sun). If we change to 20 panels (the same amount from 7.0) the output would be 1.2MW. Last season I could use 4 furnaces for 20 minutes before using regular fuel with this setup. As you can see, not even close to an alien core! :slight_smile:

20 or thirty would be better, not to make power items absolete but it would help energy shortage when you forget to upload some into your generator to stop plants from dying. I would prefer 30 but thats just be able to keep the industry going a little longer.

Ok, with the next server restart I have set it to 25 for now.
