Another set of AM's being destroyed, using two different exploits

After patch 4, there was first problems with AM’s being destroyed by the fact that you could destroy someone elses “standalone structure” with a multi tool. Most of us who do alot of mining, dealt with this by building bases and placing the AM’s inside.
We build the bases with “flat” blocks and try to make them as small as possible, so they’re not in the way for other miners. We also never put them in a way that stops anyone from mining.
In this case that’s a problem, since the “flat” blocks can be rotated with a block rotating tool, even other peoples bases and even tho it’s PvE… So, they:

Exploit the fact that you can rotate blocks on other peoples bases
Exploit the fact that you can dismantle other peoples "standalone structures"with a multi tool

The fact that we now have bases at all our AM’s, gives the benefit of producing activity logs. Together with the fact that we give our bases numbers to keep them apart, it means that it’s very easy to see the systematic way in which our bases have been visited and the AM’s destroyed.
Here is a sample from the log, but i’m sure server admins have more/better logs.

4.1 that fixes this is at release candidate stage. It should go live very soon. Just hang on.

As far as 4.1 and fixes; The exploit being there is only half the problem. I know when i log into a game with “Alpha” in the corner, that there will be problems and weird bugs WILL be in the game.

My main issue is with the people who systematically exploit every single bug and loop whole in the game, they are part of another problem that cant be fixed with patches and bug fixes.

These people infect the community with their anarchistic rhetoric and selfish attitude and promote a community where using any existing exploits is “OK”. I would hate to see this server be taken over by these elements, it really deserves a better fate.

Well first off this guy is on PVE and 2nd The whole idea of being on PVE stater planet to get enough together to get off the planet , Not a place for you to go back to and mine ore , Mine your ore and move off.

This server is only being taken over by people who don’t fully read the rules and people that cry to the already over worked GM’s for every little thing. When 90% of the time they bring it on themselves.

Rex and the GM team work very hard in order for all of us to have a good server. IMO a lot of work.

Think about what you are doing like using a known " broken item " while being on a Starter planet mining ore and then building bases over the ore.

Wait for the item to be fixed. It really is not that hard mate.

Oh I know he’s on PvE - I meant that in a general sense.

It’s hard for me to get all that much sympathy for the auto miner theft victims.

People managed before just fine without autominers. Boo hoo my convenience feature is not working! Boo hoo hoo!

Mine by hand like a man. Go to a PvP rotation planet, they seem largely empty and get all the ore you could want.

Move off the pve stater planet. The whole idea is that you start and then get enough ore together to get off , Not to go back and mine ore.

What are you talking about, who said anything about a starter planet?
What i described happened on Zuccria which is one of the 6 rolling Pve/PvP planets.

And you really didn’t read my post at all did you, i said i know broken items is part of the game and It can(and will) be fixed with patches. There’s also a fix for part of the community who systematically exploit these bugs and ignore rules … they can be banned.

So, just to clarify once again, since reading seems to be an issue here:

  • I know the game is alpha and that the game contains bugs and exploits
  • My issue is with the people who use these bugs and exploits … and get away with it.

Seriously its’ not worth the effort. There is PvP in this game so you can solve these problems without needing an adult to help you.

I was just going on the ore types  reported in the logs and you did say pve,

And how is it that a person can mine that ore with a base over it or near it ?

The base and the AM only have to be near the mine, they don’t have to be inside the mine.
Grab a AM and try it, you’ll see what i mean.

Also, it actuyally works to my advantage that people can mine out the vein.

the AM’s dont deplete the % of the mine and will continue to give ore, ever after tha mine has been depleted.
I don’t mind that at all, since it means my AM will stand in the middle of nowhere, not visible on map, and generate ore,

I realize this is borderline exploliting a bug, but devs (of the game) has said that this is by design, much like a water extractor dont deplete a lake.

Well imo a waste of time using a broken item then expect Rex to go around to every " omg my broken item is broken" and then wave his ban hammer down seems a bit silly.

At this point I would say deal with it as it is or wait for the fix.

NO it’s just really funny that you point out that it was more about people " using exploits " and bugs and how they are the ones breaking the server and fun and you yourself sort of doing the same thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

except that right now the autominers don’t actually drain any ore from the points yet, and as a result as long as you don’t empty the deposit manually you effectively can get unlimited amounts of ore as long as you keep your miner filled

Dev’s have said it’s being fixed. Atm its broken. Bug that you are using to gain unlimited amounts of ore less someone mines the ore by hand

Or in this case robs your AM :slight_smile:

Really wish patch 4.1 comes faster this time.

So to make one point clear in first place:
Intruder Logs are logs created by our tool which tell you who was near you. It does not always mean that it was an enemy (your allys can be logged too)

Secondly yes, patch 4.1 coming sooooooooon and fix every pain and yes I announced it is not clever to still use them or have expecations that you find the AMD where you left it.

Anyways fact are that these two guys are having fun in griefing. This time AMD, next time OP?
All money from bank and player and RP are gone from them.
That is a warning + punishment.

Can’t do more cause in fact we know nothing. How they managed to do this etc.

This is clear enough. Entering closed bases is done by rotating doors. Taking down AMD is done by multitool.

As for the resoultion, makes total sense to me.
