Recently, I developed a new tool, which can be found at https://empyrion-codex.com, and I thought I would post about it here as well, so more people might be able to use it.
The tool is called the Empyrion Codex and is primarily designed to make planning easier. Beyond that, it’s also a great lookup tool to quickly find information about blocks, traders, and weapons. Of course, similar tools do exist, but what sets the Empyrion Codex apart is its modern and intuitive user interface.
Features
Item Search
If you need to quickly find information about a specific item, you can easily look it up to find various useful details, including crafting recipes and many of the most important item properties.
Beyond that, you can also very easily compare items. For example, if you’re unsure about the differences between CPU Extenders, the tool will let you compare all the relevant properties.
Trading
Another area where this tool is very useful is when you’re planning your trading routes. For some scenarios, you can get an overview of which traders sell or buy which items, along with their quantities. This allows you to find out which items bring the highest profit and where to buy and sell them. With that said, the site does not show you the location of the traders; you must find those yourself so as not to make things too easy.
For some future scenarios, these traders and items may have to be added manually by you, but it is still much more efficient than other tools, such as spreadsheets. The item names will still be suggested to you as you write, and the traders you add can still be used with the other tools on the site.
While it may appear that the Empyrion Codex contains many smaller tools, in practice, they are all tightly integrated. The detailed item views show you which traders buy and sell specific items, and if you have added any locations, you can see those as well. Similarly, the items from the search are also used on the trading and weapons pages.
Beyond the above, the tool also gives you a quick overview of the best trading opportunities and lets you keep track of your trading routes.
Weapons
Perhaps you’re considering which types of weapons you should add to your bases and ships to best defeat your enemies? That is a good thing to do, since in Empyrion there are big differences between enemies and weapons, and how you combine them can be the difference between victory and… not quite victory.
Therefore, inspired by our own EWS system here on HWS, the Empyrion Codex provides an overview of exactly which weapons are efficient against specific block types. If this is not enough, or if you don’t understand what each block type actually means, you can also look up specific blocks to find out which weapon you need to destroy them.
