HWS 6 | Big changes coming! Update!

That’s dev side thou, and who knows that might be the case in 12.0

There have been a LOT of people suggesting this, and I agree wholeheartedly. But here is the thing. That is at best a major version release change. for example 7.0, which has been mentioned to be focused more on pvp aspects. It is not something that can be released in a patch, or accommodated server side with the tools that HWS has been given by the Devs. In the meantime, class restriction atleast might bring back the ability to kill CV’s. And if we can get performance increases from this, thats just a bonus in my opinion. I stated earlier that I have been flying a class 1 the last week or so. That doesnt mean I have just been warp sledding it. I was trying to say that you can have everything you need to have a unique fighter, in a compact, well thought out, and inexpensive CV.

But how am I suppose to show off my wealth and status without the 300k iron ship?

perhaps 20 15k iron ships?

When i die / cb:rest on Cross servers, where will i respawn?

After wipe, 7/07, why not to play one week on class 1 CV/SV ?

After that, if all working well, size 2 will be accessible, and next size 3

Sounds cool, will be great for testing purposes to see how much difference it really does, but I can already hear all the lazy people saying ā€œWait now i have to go and design a class 1, 2 and 3 ship ???ā€ xD

To be honest I was very doubtful of class 3 I fly a modded version of the Star destroyer. It took me a long time to get it down to class 4 last season. But it still held up very well in battle. Now with lag shot issue being sorted taking it down to a class 3 I need to remove about 20k blocks from 180k. I don’t think I will have an issue with this.

Just try it and see what happens.

Something to consider. A player whos CV is dedicated to PvP will always smash one who’s is not.
Size Class wont matter. I’ve seen Colin take down much larger CVs with his sled. PvPers don’t roll with
all the devices others do. Our ships are maximized for PvP. Lower the Size Class WILL make you easier
to kill. You will need to decide between those devices that you want or the Armor you must have to protect
your vitals. Do you want a constructor or an extra layer of armor around your warp core? (This is merely
an example. Maybe you get two layers for the cost of a constructor) My point is by lowering SC you don’t
open up new builds as some have suggested. Because HWS NA is a PvP server you limit players to building
PvP CVs or getting smashed.

Keep in mind some of the players who pushed for SC3 either don’t PvP or want to kill you easier. If by
expressing this view I’m labeled a flamer or troll so be it. Anyone who disagrees with the server gods
earns that label. I’m telling you this because I don’t want easy kills. I want the thrill of the kill. That doesn’t
come from killing sheep.

You right Matt. It really will help with killing each other. Yesterday I have fight of 15 minutes with 2-3 cv in same time, they cant kill my 20k blocks CV. it is not interesting pvp fights now
Reducing size will help to build more engineering solutions …

Since 6 almost impossible to destroy a PVP CV. If it was back in 5 then yes the Class 3 would be a nightmare. Since 6 the most I have lost in battle is a few guns and blocks. No internal damage. Don’t get me wrong I’m not for class 3 but if it means more fights where they is a winner rather than a runner (no guns left) then yes lets try Class 3.

Reducing SC might result in engineering solutions on a PvE server. On a PvP server the result will be
Build a PvP CV or get smashed.
Op4/NFA Alliance raided EU server last night, and smashed multiple CVs bringing several home to NA
server for scrapping. They did so well they were accused of exploiting in discord. So taking CVS is not
the issue Op4 Donor Planet has a scrapyard full of them.

The decision to reduce SC to 3 will only serve to make the casual gamer or PvE player easier prey than
they already are. Further reducing PvP opportunities by sending them to one of the other servers
competing for players. Higher SC allows these players to add the defenses they need to escape. Removing
that will ultimately result in their removal from the player base. Just some food for thought.

They need to get smashed thou, if people don’t loose their ships they will never make stronger ones.

I thought taking away drilling was for ā€œperformanceā€ I was all for that… Now we are finding more ways to improve ā€œperformanceā€ … The game runs perfectly fine when I’m on good desktop. I was in fight yesterday with 7 CV’s or more all firing at once and I had almost 0 to no lag. I used to play on laptop for the longest time, I DC’d a lot and had bad lag. It might just be people’s computers but what do I know… Just going off of 3000 hours of playing this game. I’m no computer tech but I can PROMISE you hands on experience will always beat book smarts. You know the term ā€œpractice makes perfectā€ it’s the same for everything in life, the more you do something the more you learn about that something. I do know that I have 0 lag on new desktop I’ve been playing on, didn’t want to admit that but it’s true. 0 lag. I have picture of me fighting 7 CV’s all at once and lagging none, back on my laptop I would have DC’d just trying to render them. All I’m saying is MAYBE it’s people’s computers.

The performance they are talking about here is not necessarily people crashing. It is the times when
-Warping doesnt work
-Invisible ship bugs put you in other people’s ships
-Transcription errors cause differences between server and client, for example in our fight the other day, when it seemed that dozens of my devices were destroyed, then reappeared.
-People are not able to log into the server because a playfield crashes to the point that the only solution is warping everyone into space.
-Taking 20+ minutes to log back in.

All of these will happen to you whether you are playing on a laptop with no graphics card, or a dual SLI titan beast. There are some things that cannot be solved with better client hardware. Frame rate is not one of these things. Server errors are.

If you want all honesty, ROLL PLAYER PVE people usually have bigger ships in size class … They like more devices, decoration, constructors, gardens etc. None of my CV’s have gardens, none of them have Windows, none of them have have deco, none of that PVE stuff. So you aren’t hurting PVP people… You are hurting the PVE people. That’s what people don’t realize… When I scrap workshop ships or crappy roll play ships I take loads of bullshit out… 500 plus devices on some. Components are my favorite now, my constructors make stuff on da spot!

I might be wrong about a lot of the stuff I say, but I’m just putting my 2 cents in… I figured it was worth it. I’m no computer tech! If it will fix a lot of problems, I am all for it…!

Agreed, but after toying around with small ships recently, I think the potential there is severely underestimated. The only reason to not bring a small class ship, is if other people are flying class 4 behemoths that literally cannot be killed in a fair fight. The only reason to fly these behemoths is because everyone else is, because they want to win. So… objectively speaking, lowering a class cap pretty much changes nothing for pvp, other than making the entry cost a lot lower. You can still get enough blocks onto a class 3, as I am sure you know, to make it functionally invincible. Yes, people would have to work to edit old blueprints to make em class 3. So what? This is a building game. If you are not trying new things, you are basically just playing call of duty in space, with ships. Adapt and overcome.
That whole thing was not directed at you btw, but rather in the same direction you were just saying. People who fly workshop, or overly pretty ships are the ones who are getting the most upset, and it amuses me greatly.

Lol it’s kind of amusing yes, I just know how bad it’s going to upset a lot of people. Not me so bad, because that just gives me a new project, building smaller ships will be fun. I am big on looks and it’s hard to make a ship look good when it’s small, not much to work with. The massive crazy designs I’ve seen/built are amazing and people should get a pat on the back for building such exotic ships. I don’t see many ships looking crazy, exotic, pretty or any of that when you only have oh so much room to put blocks.
