Welcome to HWS 5.0!

^ I do agree with this in part too, especially since sometimes you’re on a single planet/system for hours doing the same thing like Lokiet said. It will be frustrating to have to stop what you’re doing, warp away from it and warp back so that you get rep that hour, but I also understand wanting to make it so you actually have to do something. I would definitely like to see something a little more like… if you warp, you are eligible to collect rep for the next 2-3 hours as long as you are still online… or something… but I can also see myself forgetting that

Yes the sad part is w/ the new Drills… deposits will be gone in “minutes” then you left with a worthless T2 that takes hours to mine with

I like the relaxing of rules, as it seems really restricting apparently to have a complex and not-so-well disseminated rules section. Although I really think the locations for Freelancer and Trader should be swapped; Freelancers work for pirates, Traders work for Guardians, so why locate them close to (apparent?) enemies of each other.

Personally I don’t like the idea of donor planets you have implemented currently, it’s great to have your own PvE box sure, but honestly I feel it’s kinda P2W even if it’s just basic ores, because you can sell your 4 basic ores for literally anything else with impunity, and never run the risk of PvP. Although I think PvPvE event planets are cool.

Not sure how I feel about the new trading aspect. I kinda liked being a lazy trader selling T2 drills all the time. Oh well. Not sure how noobs will adapt to the change, as the marketplace pre-5.0 was a lifeline for many people. Now that it’s location based will be interesting to see how players adapt to that.

The RP system is harsh because before it was literally a handout for doing nothing in game. Honestly I don’t understand why Epic weapons are relevant in this, but we’ll see how it goes.

My concern seems to be the RP gain. I know its to derail those that farm RP. But, what if your doing a lot of mining, or resource gathering just to survive? That 1 warp per hour thing seems a bit ridiculous. :-/ Maybe once per day perhaps, and if you don’t make that jump, the RP you would have earned for the day is forfeit? Is it still going to require tons of crystals to get from one side of the universe to another, or is it a little more manageable? I agree, that for 4.X it might have been necessary considering the smaller size. But now we have a much larger system, and it’ll be kinda weird that after two jumps (if you didn’t spend hours hording them, losing at a chance to gain 1 point of RP) you have to jump to the nearest world to nab some. Sorry, I’m not trying to be rude, or inconsiderate to your guys hard work. It’s just if you’re not constantly on warping around, RP is going to be extremely difficult to obtain.

However, on a brighter note you have scan ability that consumes RP. This is actually quite awesome, and would love to see more abilities like this. Heck, if you could add more awesome abilities that consume RP (And maybe faction specific) that could consume RP, I think that would balance things out in that regard. Along with perhaps an auto kicker, if a player hasn’t moved for 30 minutes-1 Hour, and a loss of all RP earned that day.

I do really love the look, and this is going to be a really awesome update! I just wanted to express my concerns. I know it doesn’t mean much from a >One week player, but I hope the feedback helps you guys provide an awesome experience for everyone! Not just those that have the resources already to succeed immediately. ^^;

It’s not just epic weapon - it’s the jump with epic weapon.

It’s to create a risk as you are taking a chance at losing your hard to get epic when flying around in PvP

I guess, I mean… As a donor I can just OCD it inbetween jumps, which I feel makes donors waaaay too powerful if they hold the means to protect their RP gain from non-donors.

No you can’t.

i agree that people could farm it afk style, myself i play with focus on farming plants making stuff to sell so i naturally wont move around alot except in my base or when i need to go collect certain resources. in some respect you might say i dont do much? but then i dont see everyone going jump mad doing much to add value to the game.
200 hours is alot of time, i imagine not but a very small few will get to the PVE planets before the next wipe.
maybe they could just take the reason the RP is thought to be needed away. maybe RP should not have been money after all money is to be made by effort. unless i am missing something i think RP is creating game play issues by being in the game at all.

Soo I will hold my criticism until I see this in action. One request however, is that you give the factions a way to GET the epic weapon. perhaps as a weekly supply, or purchase option. I spent nearly three weeks in this server without seeing a single epic at all, due to the farming of POI’s. Now you need to luck out and find a weapons of YOUR type, in order to even start getting RP? Guess Ill just go retreat to my donor planet and stay at zero RP, cause there doesn’t appear to be a reason to have any anymore. I am not serious about just doing nothing, but the point stands that is kind of what people are being driven to if they have the option.

I like everything I read @RexXxuS! I like the restrictions on OCD because it allows for more gameplay options. Now traders and others will have to use freighters and rely on escorts to protect them. This opens up a lot more emergent gameplay overall. I also think the RP restrictions are good. I know some people will say they are too harsh because they can’t gain RP every single hour, but I also don’t think the intent is for people to gain RP every single hour. If you want to gain RP for any given hour, then stopping what you’re doing and warping is the price you pay. It isn’t meant to be convenient for you to gain RP. If I’m online for 4 hours and gain 2 RP because I was able to jump during 2 of the hours, but couldn’t jump the other 2, then too bad. I think it makes it more challenge and more difficult to get the RP necessary to live on PVE planets. Again, this makes more emergent gameplay possible since everyone can’t be housed up on a PVE planet all cozy. Thanks a lot for making these changes guys!

One thing I don’t understand the usefulness of is the Global Scan. What good is this for?

I suspect it’s there so that dirty nasty pirates can see a large number of cores and make it a smaller number of cores.

I understand the intention here but I do just want to say that occasionally real life stuff does pop up. Sometimes you think you’ll just be pulled away for a second and then an hour later you’re doing whatever and remember you were still logged into Empyrion, coming back later to a death screen and no backpack or a server restart and no backpack. Add to that the frustration of not being able to earn rep for the rest of the day… let’s just say I think it would be much better if the autokicker just kicked you before you could gain anything and didn’t punish you long term.

There are always places to get ores without having to risk PvP. In my experience moving to my donator planet moved us further away from Sathium/Neodymium that we had easy access to on Hunter Moon with cheap SVs (back when we were DSH) but gave me somewhere where the gravity was really fun. The source quality/size of the deposits was also lower on donator planets compared to the rotation planets. What advantage is it that donator planets give you really?

That’s actually what I was meaning by the kick feature, and yeah what you suggested would be a bit less harsh. I agree with you on that! That would be a lot better, IMO.

I am afraid, that economy will be very fast inflation.
Credits created via mining gold and elemental bank 1% interest but credit sinks only on donator planets and homeworld orbit tax?
Donator planets with freelancers means no tax at all?
Or did I just miss something?

Got to save up for that 7 billion OCD

Is there an accurate way of defining the colours? Peoples colour perception can vary quite a bit and using the palate and clicking may loose some their “special RP” if implimented.

Here is what I am curious about: the 7 BILLION needed for ocd 7. Its great to have lofty goals. But why would you ever use that to get a small feature on one persons OCD, when you could get 70 MILLION EVERY DAY in interest. Id probably go about trying to find a way to make a solid gold ship before I spent it on ocd 7

You aren’t entended to achieve that carrot.

Yeah I do wonder if it’s meant to be 70? Even that is a serious commitment.
