the new season is this time a bit different because I have literally just no time to breath.
But there is one thing we can never get rid of! :slight_smile:

So far the Full wipe on Tuesday, 17th September looking good. Or better to say the Alpha 10.5 Release. But we never know. Just be sure that the start shot is that release and after that I need couple of hours to make everything ready - as always.

HWS 10.X Pre-Info-Teaser

Unfortunately no big Teaser is possible this time. But some plans are not coming on Tuesday morning of course, so the least I can do is to give you some pre information for the new season I am still working on so they might change here and there a bit.

  • my goal for HWS 10.X is ā€œback to the rootsā€. Plain and simple: over the years I not always followed my own vision of the gameplay or did some ā€œtestsā€. After looking back itā€™s important to reflect those decisions though. Sometimes even to ā€œkill your darlingsā€ (making things less complicated).
  • in HWS 10.X I will remove my Sandwich Planet invention and let planets be drillable again (except some story related exceptions like the area around the HWS Metropolis)
  • revisiting some planet wipes and only do it where necessary. I want to boost the sense of Meteorites again. They should not be an annoying decoration as they are now.
  • which means I will radically rework the resource distribution in HWS 10.X. Rare resources will be rare again.
  • I will revert my ā€œtestā€ of custom weapon limits. With the last season I implemented overlimit weapons than vanilla (6 instead of 4 Rocket Launcher for example). With your feedback and feedback from benchmarks with Eleon, this wasnā€™t my best decision.
  • However, I will make this for an exchange of damage. A big damage boost should make the revert more fun.
  • I am aware that HWS is handing stuff out to players too much. A direction which some like and some not. But in certain areas I agree and will nerf it significantly in the new season. Stuff like faction supply, Daily Loot, etc.
  • PvE is not as challenging as it should be, considering PvP is no option for some survival fans. My plan is to carefully create Survival planets you can only rely on your skills instead of OCD or other things.
  • PvP should be a lot better with all the optimizations by Eleon in 10.5. However there are some plans to motivate the thrill of PvP even more. RP for living in PvP Space, rework of HWS Factories, PvP Beacon Missions.
  • Since HV to SV docking will come in 10.6 (soon), I want to start a new ā€œtestā€ in the 10.X season and get rid of any CV on PvP planets. This has a lot of reasons but mostly with my vision to boost a fair planetary fight, where every vessel has its purpose. However, to get even your Garage HVs or other HVs to a planet we plan a new feature called ā€œOrbital HV Cannonā€.
  • Streamline PvP limits. Everything Class 1 on PvP Planets. Class 5 in PvP Orbits. Class 7 in PvE. (exceptions possible like Titan)
  • A lot of "money sink" features coming. Also reworking the Economy along the way is one of our highest priority.
  • more things are planned but not sure if time allows me to work on itā€¦

Sorry for just a list as a teaser but things are right now just busy, also in real life.

I heavily disagree, the cv with 150 blocks should be brought back so that hvs can still be carried onto pvp playfields.

All of the changes look very good, thatā€™s something I was really waiting to be adressed. Thanks for your hard work on the feedback from community.

On the point of CVs, if they will be removed from the pvp planets, one of the options to take out a base will be gone, so Base turrets/shields can use a slight nerf to keep it balanced.

I agree with snowman. Letā€™s ā€œmake things less complicatedā€ no need for a cannon when you can bring back a feature that worked well.

The CV on planet test is a bit dependent on some EAH Feature rework.

The reason for no CV at all is that even 150 Block CVs can survive too long before they get taken by HWS. Something I hope our tool can be improved on.
If not 150 Blocks will be a compromise. At least until HVs can dock on SVs again.
Once that is in I am no fan of CVs on planets.

Its funny how they scream realism with weight and volume, exposed thrusters and other such bs but its fine for hvā€™s to dock to svā€™s. Its like a plane towing a car, so realistic right?

What I would like to know is with going back to the old Weapons count .( Which sucks because we have all have these amazing BPā€™s that we cant use anymore ā€¦ Now we are forced back to creative and not play on the HWS Server due to recreating our BPā€™s ) ā€¦ The question is will the New Damage output be equal to the Shield protection with less weapons ā€¦ Also does this include Drill lasors on a CV ? From what 6 to 10 back down to 6 again ?? grrrrā€¦ creative mode nooooooo

Appreciate all your work and thought, and effort going into each wipe.

There are 3 aspects would like to see different.

  1. Continue to permit class 1 cvā€™s on planet. As said earlier, taking cv out of the base attack equation ā€” the impact needs to be considered. Also eliminates ability to ā€œbombā€ base with hv bombs.

  2. Prefer no reduction in current hws weapons limits, especially not the mining drills.

  3. Prefer to keep cv class 1 limits on some pvp orbits, and expand class 1 limit to include additional pvp orbits. By making it 5 everywhere, a lot of time and effort creating good class 1 pvp cvā€™s is gone to waste.

What? So you didnā€™t know these flying small vessel type transporter ships existed? Transporting a car, a plain, a tank, oh and a house with a small vessel type ship.

And this is from our past and current history. The game represent a futuristic ā€œhistoryā€ so its logical to assume that there wonā€™t be any exposed thrusters, or a better and more sophisticated why for a small vessel to transport.

I knew there would be someone stupid enough to take my comment to the extremes,

My example was a plane with a car not a helicopter which might as well be equal to that of a garage ship with cv thrusters.

I was thoroughly enjoying ships being specialised so you had to choose which weapons to place on them to do a specific job or to be less effective jack of all trades ship. Now with a damage boost along with reduced hp of the blocks this seems to be bit of overkill.

You can do it even with new limits - except for gatling guns and dumbfures(which are very situational)(6 rocket+ 6 pulse + 6 plasma + 4 rail = 22). A class 1 ship with full 23 guns looks hideous and such amount is bad for perfomance as well. Vanilla gun limits for svs in next season is one of the best changes imo.

You said sv and i showed you a small vessel sized ship transporting all of the above plus more.

I showed the faulty of your logic and you call me stupid. Looks like low on logic but big on ā€œEgoā€ anyone?

You took my example to the extreme because i take it you like the idea of docking hvā€™s to svā€™s and therefore you had to make sure your point was made no matter how far you went to do it.

Once again my example was a basic plane and a car something which cant happen and which you can not show me. My logic is solid and your left looking foolish.

What do you mean by basic plane? This is a plane transporting cars?

Were talking about a tank size vessel ā€œwhich is a ground fighting vesselā€ docking into a helicopter ā€œwhich is a flying shipā€ that is a small vessel type in size.

Does that look like a basic plane to you? It doesnā€™t look like it to me. Let put it into context, do you think a fighter jet could carry a car let alone a tank? No, so why should svā€™s be carrying hvs then?

Because this is a sci-fi game, and SVā€™s use rocket thrusters, and not jet thrusers :wink:
I get what youā€™re saying, but i donā€™t think empyrion and real life should be compared. Thereā€™s nothing realistic about empyrion.

And i agree completely which why its painful when the end argument is ā€˜so its realisticā€™.

The thing is that empyrion svā€™s donā€™t fly like that man. My main point with the helicopter screens was to show that a small vessel size flying ship can carry a small vessel size ground vehicle like a tank or another sv.

Iā€™m not here to make you feel bad or anything, but i like it to be clear on what makes sense so we donā€™t end up confusing things even more, and for those who are reading the forums.

Svā€™s are like beeā€™s, they dont fly like anything else do they?
I knew there was heavy duty military craft but its all looks more like a cv or is specialized most people wont make specailised svā€™s for carrying it will just be a fighter.
