Will 5.1 be a wipe?

I agree. Although they did change the splash through blocks in 5.0 as well. That was a huge improvement, mostly because that happened far more regularly than clip shots, atleast for me. And it seems to be a 100% fix thus far. So that is nice.
Plus, DRILLS!
Now we need sv’s with multitool beams or grinders

sv really does need a niche and I would certainly love a faster way to break ships down. I like that idea.

Also pending verification clip shot fix, ACP will be voluntarily decommissioning our entire 5.1 non compliant fleet. I feel it will be much to high of an advantage over newly starting people.

Now hiring people to break down LBP ships

<we (LoT) are all about some deconstruction. Just let us know where.

Im actually surprised no one has filled that trader niche being “ship breakers” and buying cs block ships based on raw mass for a percentage price

LoT actually came to scrap our kills. Sadly we’ve not killed many people worth scrapping since then.

We do that. We can either do bulk removal, or scrapping select ships for price payed to you per block.
I have a silly little cv I designed for scrapping purposes. Call it the remora. Seating for 16, each with quick exit from ship to get right to it, and parking for storage sv’s.

If you retain the 20,000 block limit and 500 device limit, are you retaining the class 3 limit under the new rules, or only going by blocks and devices?

Based on what I’ve seen in 5.X vs 4.X the biggest change that increased lag is turrets firing faster and more consistently. Turrets would stop firing or fire substantially slower in large fights in 4.X, which I think is why large fights in 4.X lagged much less. We used ring things and even the invincible (82k blocks) in fights in 4.X and experienced less lag in a 6 v 6 than we have now in a 4 v 4.

That said, I do believe the white space in ships to have some influence on lag, as folks were simply not building ships with mountains of odd shaped blocks to generate whitespace in 4.X the way they are now. If this patch fixes lag shots then the whitespace will be unnecessary and following the new CV classes will be a good idea to potentially reduce lag.

If this patch DOES NOT fix lag shots, then following the new CV classes will be a horrible idea because it will mean ships can no longer be designed to avoid lag shots, making PVP pointless.

I do not think there is any way to verify whether the patch fixed lag shots until we’re live on HWS, because server population has a huge influence on this. We have been unable to reproduce the kind of server lag shot issues we experience on HWS on our own private server.

Even under the new size class restrictions the ship I have been flying since 4.0 is compliant with size limits, and it is very survivable. Thats with current lag shot issues. If lag shots are actually fixed it will be even more survivable. Less than 10k blocks. So PVP wont be pointless. Far from it.

Honestly PVP lagging is being used to justify many crazy sweeping changes that just don’t historically make sense.

In 4.0 the class was all the way up to class 4 for considerable time. Didn’t see the same whining then. In 5.0 we go down to class 3 with 20k blocks and 500 devices and we here even more whining. Methinks making them even smaller won’t fix the whining (clearly and historically) but it will affect the whole aspect of building ships, bringing in blueprints and using your CV as a mobile base.

Sorry but this game is not all about one kind of use of CVs. Lets not ruin this server for the overly vocal and entitled. Lets think about multiple play styles here.

Then you were not paying attention.

Yea. It’s totally fine.

Skip to the 3 minute mark in the 5.0 video if you want to quickly see what the “whining” is about.

So in other words, if we make it even smaller of a limit, we still won’t fix the whining and it will ruin the game for everyone else. Got it.

Unless you read the patch notes and realize that the ship class size is based heavily influenced by polygons so as long as you’re not white spacing your ship (which you aren’t because you don’t PvP) you’re fine.

But it’s easier to post on the forums than to bother loading your ships in the experimental branch and noticing they’re still allowed as that would require you to actually test the game we’re alpha testing.

Edit: Changed “based on polygons” to “heavily influenced by polygons”

It sounds like you are making purely pve arguments about a pvp issue.

If “everyone else” doesn’t care about CV PvP being enjoyable “everyone else” is playing on the wrong server. There is a PvE server. If PvP performance is not a concern for “everyone else” than I am not sure why they are on a server where most publicly accessible play fields are PvP.

Predictable response. No consideration for any others but yourself. Well in that case you will be playing by yourself in no time, and whining about a new problem: Why isn’t there anyone to kill in PvP?

The thing is. You can answer this for yourself. What is the class size of your current ship. There is no debate here until we have a class number we can discuss balancing around. I have no idea what you think is a small ship. I have no idea what you think is a big ship. I don’t know if you use a base so you have no large base CV where all of your devices are.

Tell me the class size. There’s nothing else to discuss until then.

The problem is with a laggy buggy game, not with the ship size. I run a class 3 and if I’m forced to go to class 2 then this game loses all fun for building decent CVs for anything other than building one design of a small, fast agile warship. That’s not fun for me at all. Forcing smaller classes won’t fix this bug, but will make it where I can’t fix workshop blueprints down from a class 4 or 5 down to a class 2. It also makes the ships much more exposed an destructible. While this may be fun for some, I kind of get attached to my ships. We aren’t going to see eye to eye on this, I just don’t want the complainers to completely ruin this game, and that’s where its headed quickly. Do you really think that dropping down to class 2 will fix this problem? Then you are really not in tune with software development or the issues with alpha games. Lets not suck this game just to get a few more FPS.
