I know far more than 4 people that have stopped playing since 5.0.

People come and go.

That defeats the purpose of pvp and some people do practice that. It’s still not a solution to the iron problem. Those players with starter cvs having the ability to build bigger ships or more ships is a solution that is much more fun than the headache of having to sift through the ships you come across for a formidable opponent. They’ll never learn how to properly fight if they can’t ever afford to lose a ship or upgrade to a larger one.

Yeah they do - but these are people who quit explicity for the reasons I listed.

I’m also not talking about people in LBP - I’m talking about factions and faction leaders that I kept in touch with and some noobs that I helped with way back in 4.0. (I know its’ super odd but people actually get help from me)

But I think we both agree that there should be more iron laying around and that issue of PVP or PVE on the origin worlds has nothing to do with the lack of iron in people’s inventory. There simply isn’t any iron anywhere on the map.

If you want to fight just mark a place and time and let everyone know that you will be there waiting for whoever wants to appear and ready you have a fight, simple like this …

We had that once, it was alright nothing spectacular. Nothing beats the unexpected, taking risk where maybe you shouldn’t have risking hours of work, no arranged fight will get your blood pumping like that.

What? I can’t fight because of said issue. People don’t want to set a time and place for a fight. Might as well have lobbies with a queue. The randomness and surprise is what makes the game interesting and beautiful.

My idea is still on the table - Lagoon Planets - remove the RP requirements and make each one taxed at different rates, with the safest and best one at the highest tax rate…

…and do something to prevent warp camping.

What about RP stays but all lagoon becomes pvp :smiley: then only people with high rp can even attack you :stuck_out_tongue:, and once you kill them they loose rp and you become safe from them again xD.

They did. They randomized warp in points.

It’s pretty tough to catch a warp in. Due to the linear path to Donator systems we’ve been trying to catch people by having ships set up along the route and trying to follow them into warp. It’s really lucky if you spawn within fire range of your victim. Most often you spawn far enough away that you maybe be able to spot them but not catch them before they either land or jump out.

Personally I like the idea of an all PvE origin planet, but then why do we even have the starter planet if that were the case? If I remove my desires from the equation, then a PvPvE or PvP system would be better for the game in general. If there is no conflict there can be no advancement. It should go like this: Traders collect and build and sell; Pirates destroy, plunder, and kill; Guardians protect the Traders from Pirate attacks; Hunters fill in both sides, working for the highest bidder, but this doesn’t just mean assassinations. Hunters could be contracted to protect a transport when Guardians are not around or to give a Pirate raid some extra numbers. Its rock-paper-scissors. If we all follow our roles then Guardians would supplement their resource gathering by buying from Traders because that’s what Traders should be doing. Or Traders could sell to Pirates in exchange for not being raided or even protection. Stop getting attached to your stuff and never go into PvP with stuff your not willing to lose. It’s really an elegant system if you look at it as a whole. Keep in mind this is an objective view with the assumption of ideal conditions. Thank you.

My 2 cens.
I did not play in 4.0, i get back now with 5.0 so i dont know how it was before.
I like the way it is now, I am in a very big faction PKA on EU server,
We have a dedicated faction for Newbs so we can help them to grow up and come in the Official PKA, we play together always 12-13 ppls in the good hours(19-24) and we abuse DISCORD to communicate and have fun together.
I think 5.0 is not a good moment for SOLO or LITTLE faction, it is the momento to make BIG Factions(Origin is only the beginning).
The new Marketplace system has only 3 weeks, give him time to grow up. I noticed a lot of more stuffs more ores more resources now, let it grow and everyone will have access to resources he needs. Now also NPC Traders are working so if you need basic res you can just buy them from them.
PVP or PVE?
I like pvp (today i’ve lost my 3 CV :stuck_out_tongue: ) so i vould like more fights and not only the old enemies, i’d like new enemies.
You want my opinion for the starting Planets? Well, the starting planet should have to be forbidden for players that reach lvl 20.
If you reach lvl 20 you have gathered experience and stuffs and can leave the planet in a CV.
So if you leave the planet with your CV and you have a lvl higher than lvl 20 you will NEVER be able to return, so POIS and resources will be reserved for Newbs.
Basic resources are more needed than the rare? Yes then team UP and while 1 or 2 mine the other 2-3 defend the drills. You dont have the power? HIRE MERCENARIES or ASK HELP to a Guardian Faction. This can be a good way to make profit for both.
RP… I dont know what will be the news about RP, but i hope something will happen. It is impossible that i need 7 hours to gain 7 RP and i lose them in 30 mins because:
I was Fighting and i died (OK i can understand it) then i bugged into my ship… (SUICID -1 RP) then i respawned into enemy base (DEAD -1) then i respauned in range of turrets because my HOME system BUGGED(-3 Died 3 times before i get out) Finally i got into the ship of my teammates but wait dont lift i am not seated… (-1 RP) now i have 7 RP LEFT… REXXX I BELIEVE IN YOU YOU ARE GREAT!! WWW REXX!!! ALL HAILL REXX and HWS!!! I like this server TOOO much.

Ironically the more I think about it, the more I kind of liked the 4.0 setup. Basic resource planets that rotated between pve and pvp to prevent a lot of building. With HV mining you might need to do full resource wipe each rotation on origin planets. Of course, I’d rather just see some hard game mechanic from the devs that would prevent anyone from completely mining a deposit (maybe a slowly regenerating deposit I dunno).

I also like the idea of hard locking out everyone who leaves the starter system then, after this gets implemented on the origin planets, so you would have nothing but actual new players on starter worlds who can ease themselves into MP.

4.0 people couldn’t really pvp, but maybe that was more to do with bugged turrets than the actual setup :confused: but so far 5.0 has been amazing. Trying to survive solo was an impossible nightmare but as soon as our faction grew in numbers and we grew in allies it became amazing.

I like the idea of people not being able to go back to starter planet, but the problem is with the new trading system its imposible to escape orbit after complete wipe of your ship in another system. You cant spawn home its greyed out if your in another system when you die, you cant spawn in med bay either becuase it will take you to someone elses half destroyed base, you cant spawn a bp that you keep in reserve in your factory becuase there is no way to power that ship… have to go to a trading station to recieve the power cells… can’t recieve power cells from ocd in pvp area… cant recieve power from AM becuase it only gives Promethium… so the only 2 options is donator package and fresh start, fresh start sending you back to the starter planet as a lvl 20 guy with nothing… :stuck_out_tongue:

Well yes on the one hand it will be difficult to decide but on the other hand it shows perfectly what the true nature of Empyrion is. It is just about balance.
No matter how tryhard PvP you are in your heart everyone sooner or later enjoys PvE. At least if we force it a bit with OCD :wink:

Balance is always important and yes even if we have a dedicated PvE server in EU (and soon maybe in NA too) everyone should have a chance to build up and fight as they wish and fresh meat interesting new fights will happen.

The poll is still running till the weekend but:

  • we are preparing an overall improvement to the universe as soon as 5.1 hits the day (~end of jan?!)
  • orbit asteroids brings a new meta into the game to fight and drill for. We are preparing this
  • the PDA, rotation of the marketplace and other gameplay stuff will be fixed / improved
  • every playfield will be touched and resources + POIs + world setup adjusted (in a better way)
  • as soon as Jascha finishes his big rework of the tool (which boost quite a lot of stuff) we can implement
  • improvements to the RP system / new feature EGS (?!)
  • starter planet protection
  • balancing / simplify of some other features

In 4.0 I was able to do this. I haven’t checked in 5.0.

You can. He is hitting the bug where if you move your home cv after setting it, you cannot spawn on it. I think he thinks that means you cannot spawn out of system.
